Tummy Tuck – Abdominoplasty Dubai

Do you suffer from a dreadful tummy bulge that won’t budge with diet and exercise?  Often there is a collection of loose skin and fat that collects often the result from excess weight gain and loss or from pregnancies.  Dr Viel says, ‘Despite hours at the gym, some women struggle to tighten the abdomen area especially after giving birth.’

The surgical procedure still remains one the the fastest growing trends, and is popular with men and women who have loose skin.  For women, often after pregnancy, their skin stretches, and this tucks the skin nicely in and also helps remove stretch marks too.

There are two main types of tummy tucks: the mini-tuck and the full abdominoplasty.

  • The Mini Tummy Tuck

This procedure, by its name, indicates that it is a smaller procedure.  Patients when in a standing position find excess skin in the lower stomach area, commonly there result of weight loss or from pregnancy.  This does not involve the repositioning of the belly button like in larger tummy tucks. This involves just the removal of fat and skin from the abdomen area, and the scar is a small one tucked within the bikini line, and about the length of a c-section scar (this is much smaller than the traditional hip to hip procedure of the larger tummy tucks.).

Length of a tummy tuck surgery – 2 hours

The Mini Tummy Tuck Procedure

The surgery will take place at our day hospital at the London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery Gulf based in Dubai Healthcare City under sedation which is not to be mistaken with general anaesthesia.  During the surgery the excess fat and skin are removed, and the skin is tightened to create a more ‘board wash’ look to the lower abdomen area.  Over time the scar will fade, and post-operation care will be provided for the patients to care for the scar..  Patients are advised to take 3 – 5 days off work but are mobile during this period, but will also wear a post-operative garment for a period of time as recommended by the surgeons.

  • The Full Abdominoplasty

This is a tummy tuck involves the removal of excess skin and fat, but this also the tightening of the abdominal muscles.  If there are stretch marks in the area, often these can be removed or made less noticeable.  The naval in larger abdominalplasty procedures is also often repositioned.  Patients who typically have this procedure have had multiple pregnancies or significant weight loss.

Length of a Full Tummy Tuck Surgery – 3 or more hours

The Full Tummy Tuck Procedure

The surgery will take place at our day hospital at the London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery Gulf based in Dubai Healthcare City, but in certain cases, your surgery may take place at a hospital should you require over night stay.  The surgery depending on the cases may take place under sedation or general anaesthesia.  The surgical procedure will have a scar that goes from hip to hip, and usually remain hidden within the underwear.
