Depigmentation Mask Treatment to help reduce sunspots and freckles to create a more even complexion.
WHAT IS PIGMENTATION?
Pigmentation is a condition that causes the skin to appear lighter or darker than normal and is often made worse by intense exposure to the sun, hormones and to certain skin laser treatments.
WHAT CAUSES PIGMENTATION?
Pigmentation is caused by an increased level of melanin, the substance responsible for skin colour. Pigmentation could also be a result of inflammation (i.e after laser treatment), sun damage and hormonal changes seen on pregnant women.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Depigmentation mask treatment influences the pigment-producing process. Some of the ingredients include Kojic acid, Phytic acid, Ascorbic Acid, Titanium Dioxide and Retinyl Palmitate which help block formations of melanin by inhibiting the enzyme required in the pigmentation process.
THE DEPIGMENTATION MASK TREATMENT
The Depigmentation Mask treatment is composed of two stages. The first stage includes the application of a brown mask to the targeted area as an office treatment, and the second stage is a home care cream treatment.
Initially, the mask is applied to the face and is left for 8 to 10 hours. Once the minimum amount of time is finished, the mask can be washed using mild soap and water.
Once the mask has been removed, the home care treatment can be started. This involves the application of a home care cream three times daily (depending on the doctor’s recommendation) for three months. This home care cream is very crucial to achieving depigmentation and should not be interrupted.
AFTER THE PIGMENTATION MASK TREATMENT
The patient will find that the face can be red (almost sunburnt appearance) and the skin may feel hot and itchy – this is perfectly normal. A moisturising serum can also be used as the skin can be flaky and dry. Sunblock is also recommended after the treatment.
The Depigmentation mask treatment gives a more gentle approach compared to other treatment. Moreover, it effectively reduces the appearance of pigmentation and brown spots.
RESULTS
In our experience, patients start seeing results after 2 – 4 weeks but can vary from patient to patient.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS
The depigmentation mask is only required once but Dr Maurizio Viel and Dr Roberto Viel may advise longer use of the home care kit according to the severity of your pigmentation.
