Breast Augmentation Dubai
Dr Maurizio, who are your patients that typically seek a breast augmentation?
We see two typical groups of patients, the first being women in their twenties and thirties who are flat-chested and want breast a natural-looking breast. Most of these women are seeking some additional volume, and on average will increase their breast size by 2 cups. The other type of patients are mothers who have had 2 or 3 children but have lost volume in the breast after having children. They either increase by 1 or 2 cup sizes or wish to return to their original volume pre-children.
How big will my breasts will be?
This is where technology helps, and we let all our patients who have breast augmentation consultations also experience a virtual reality programme where they can enhance see a variety of sizes of breasts on their body. Obviously, as surgeons, we also make recommendations on what suits the frame of the body but the patients get to see a variety of sizes if they are not sure what they want. They can even take the footage home to share with the partner or family for further discussions.
What types of implants do you recommend?
We recommend the ‘gummy bear’ implants. These are technically highly cohesive silicone implants, and if you cut the implants in half the silicon remains in the casing so the implants will not leak silicone gel. Also, we choose implants that have a smooth exterior, and these implants will keep their shape and volume for years to come. The manufacturers are now providing lifetime warranties because of the great quality of these implants.
Do you need to change breast implants?
If you have the ‘gummy bear’ implants, you will not need to change them, but if you have other types of implants, their shelf life was 10 years only, and it is important to check with your surgeon which types of implants you have. They will be able to advise you best on an individual basis.
Is fat a better option?
Fat has been used for many years, and now we can increase the volume using stem cells but this is limiting as patients can only go up one cup size. A new trend these days is for patients to have implants but to add fat to soften the look creating a very natural looking breast augmentation especially if the patient is slim.
Can I breastfeed?
Yes, we place the breast implants under the breast tissue so we leave the whole ‘breastfeeding’ tissue intact. The placement of the implants should not affect breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is usually only affected when we perform breast uplifts and breast reductions.
Drs Roberto and Maurizio Viel will be happy to discuss any further questions you may have on breast augmentation.
